Want to Replace My Trailer Jack

I'm thinking of getting a better trailer jack for my 5 Star trailer. I was thinking of a SeaSense Big Wheel or something like that but want to know what others think. What trailer jack are you using? Thanks for your help.

Over the years I have found that buying a cheap jack is one of the biggest mistakes you can make.

I am glad to see that you are looking at a quality jack to support your "investment".

I replaced my original jack with a drop leg style, rated at 2500 lbs, with a plate instead of a wheel. My trailer and boat are 6500lbs, and it is usually parked on sand. The plate helps to keep the jack above ground, and I don't have to worry if I am sitting on a hard surface that has a slope.

I also used a 2x6 under the plate if it's being stored fore any length of time.

The plate isn't bad if your tong is light enough to lift by yourself.
if you have a 28' boat, and need to push it over 5" to get on the ball, they get annoying.

The expensive ones last a bit longer than the cheap ones.
issue with them is that plastic wheel weathers fast, and soon, isnt a wheel anymore.

My friend bought a new triple wide mobile home (or "manufactured home")
I guess its customary to unbolt the tongs of the things, and leave them with the new owner? Anyway. on that 12" iron I-beam of an A-shaped tong, is the largest, strongest, and best tong jack ever. Hell, its made to lift a 50' section of home.

Get one of those!

With a tongue weight of 600 lbs, I can't pick it up anyway, and seeing as how it's in the sand, I can't roll the trailer if it had a wheel, so the plate is what works best for me. I just learned to back up to the coupler without having to move the trailer.

Seems like a trailer that can use a 1500 lb jack would be a little over-matched with a mobile home jack. Probably increase the trailer weight/tongue weight by double, lol.

Funny thing is, Its now on my single jet-ski trailer.

That jack has seen 5 trailers over the years.

Its held on with u-bolts. When the trailer gets a flat, I move it closer to the wheel, and jack it up. It rocks.
