Hello everyone,
I have a 15 hp Montgomery Ward outboard.. Since buying it I have done a lot of work to it including a new water pump w/housing, new prop, plugs, and some replacement hardware to make the throttle work again.. Now I have a new problem and since this part of the motor isn't covered in the basic manual I have, I need some advice before buying anything/moving forward.
I was out on the lake one day and the motor was running great.. I shut it down for about 30 minutes and when I fired it back up, it was only running on one cylinder.. Since I had been doing a short troll with it earlier I though it could be spark plugs.. After replacing them/starting motor with the new plugs the issue remains.. If I am on the lake with it, it starts easy, but when you have it in forward it is obvious that it is only firing one plug.. Every once in a while the second plug will kick in, but never for longer than 3-5 seconds..
Any ideas what might cause this? I have tried 2 new sets of plugs, and they do not look fouled at all. My plug wires are in great shape w/o any cracking or major wear. Do I need to do some work under the flywheel?
Thank you!
