I've been doing field service for about five years.
A typical week would look pretty much like this...
Sunday evening, I start thinking about what I'm going to do once I get to the job site, and how far I need to travel on Monday morning, including what time to set the alarm.
Bags packed, tools sorted and loaded, GPS set, vehicle gassed up and ready to go.
By Thursday evening, I've had several days of my head completely into the job, measuring my progress and comparing it to the projected schedule.
By Friday morning I've made mental calculations regarding the project, and recorded pertinent details to contact head office regarding any changes/updates.
Last weekend I bought a boat; a 19 foot bowrider in very nice shape, with a 120 volvo/penta.
It was very exciting, and something I've been planning for about a month (my old fishing boat is just too small for me and the kids, they're getting big!).
We took it out for a test drive Saturday evening, and spent about an hour on the water having a terrific time.
Sunday I had a previous obligation for a fund-raiser, Ride For Dad prostate research...so no boating Sunday.
Monday morning I woke up, forgot to set the alarm, so I was a bit behind schedule.
Got to the job site and told my buddy about the new boat. Luckily he's an enthusiast as well.
Spent all week day-dreaming about fishing, tubing, teaching the kids how to water-ski, and just going over and over the terrific feeling of pushing the throttle forward and feeling the power-plant respond with a healthy rumble.
Watching the bow rise up and pressing back into the seat...man, what a rush!
There's no doubt, the job did not get one hundred percent this week.
I've never had such a long week in my life. I want to get home and play with my new toy!!!
Tomorrow, when I get home, we're taking a cooler full of sandwiches and juice and heading out on the water.
Forecast calls for sunny skies ALL weekend.
