Hi!

I've tried my boat for the first time this morning after 1 year of overhaul. The motor (Evinrude 115 1994) seems OK unless a discontinuous warning after 5 minutes of running at idle speed. after turning off the ignition switch and turning on it I could run for 5 minutes more before earing the buzzer.
The motor uses pre-mixed fuel, i don't know if there were a VRO before.

It would help if you could give the model# so that we knew what system we were working with.
I know it is a 1994 115 hp, they list 4 different models that year and there may be some differences that may cause your problem.

Continuous is overheat, intermittent was for not getting oil and another for lack of gas. I'll find you an article cause my memory sucks. Best of luck. Rick.

the model is E115MLERC, the motor is a 115hp V4 90? of 1994.

Your motor does not have a fuel obstruction alarm, so the problem is limited to a constant horn which is only caused by overheating, or the VRO alarms which should all be disconnected if you are running premix.

You are overheating and should troubleshooot your cooling system. Start wih the waterpump, then service the thermostats, and lastly, service the water passage deflectors.

Good shop practice is to replace the cylinder head gaskets after an overheat.

You should not run the motor again until you fix the problem.

Re-torque your cylinder head bolts.

the problem is not a constant horn, it is an intermitting horn nearly every second, I've already resolved an overheating problem due to the thermostat. Now it is an other problem.
how can I disconnect the VRO alarm? The plug has been replaced an jumped by 4 cables. There are a purple, black, grey and tan wire going to VRO.

There are two plugs on the VRO system; both are alarms and have nothing to do with the functioning of the pumps. The first runs to the oil tank. The second one runs from the fuel pump to the main harness where it connects with an amphenol plug. The plug is sometimes tucked behind the relay box for the PT&T.

Anyway, track the four wire harness running out of the VRO pump and disconnect it.

This is the jump between VRO wire done with red wires. Should I disconnect these wires?

If you premix your fuel, you need to disconnect the four wires running from the fuel pump.

Hi I have a 1987 evinrude 150xp as soon as I crank it up it makes a buzzing noise it did fine last time I went out soon as I put it in the water and started it up it started buzzing where the control panel is where you put they key I don't think it's running hot because it does it as soon as you fire it up could it be a wire or sensor or something really need some help
