just letting those uninformed know,,,,when i was doing my transom with epoxy i got it all over me ,,i diddnt know the difference ,,,,it was evan in my hair ....well i got a rash every were it was on me and else were it only lasted less than a week but it was still happinin..............my new thaught on the different grades and brands of epoxy ,,,would include that some of the more expensive well known brands probobly are superrior in there anti harmfull qualitys while still being strong " superior engineered " i think it would be sticking out as such in there ability to forgive when not mixed in exact ratios,,,there ability of being safe when they dont start flaming or overheating in areas and there basic mild toxisity ...................i had a couple of areas get real hot and little hocky puck type solid forms develop that were real hard and real hot...

Yeah, all those plastic resins can cause a rash. A nasty one.<br /><br />On the container is a description of how to use the material safely. <br /><br />Any time you're using any chemically-based product, it's really, really important to read the instructions and follow them carefully, particularly the safety instructions and warnings.<br /><br />A few years ago, in the town I used to live in, a guy painted his car in his driveway. He died because he didn't read the safety instructions on the two-part paint he was using. He DIED!

i glued my shirt to myself...it was verry mild though ,i used a high quality epoxy......made me wonder about the lesser engineered epoxys though..

Most epoxies contain amines. Some people are alergic to amines and it will cause a rash. I worked for a chemical company that produced amines and sometimes employees had to be moved to other areas of the plant because of amines alergies.

I have heard that some people can work with this stuff for years and all of the sudden get a severe allergic reaction to it. So read and follow all precautions. The same applies to bottom paint and anti fouling paint for outdrives. It is all basically a pesticide!

clean up with vinegar.. the best thing on the planet to remove un-cured epoxy from anything.. <br /><br />an it's safe an won't 'transderm' thru skin..

It does worse then a rash to your lungs if you dont wear proper mask when sanding the stuff, it hardens in your lungs, there for life.

I like the suggestions, so I will add what I have been told by others:<br /><br />- everyone, sooner or later, will develop allergies to epoxy so always use a mask and gloves...don't let it touch your skin and don't breathe it<br />- use nitrile gloves to protect your hands<br />- use a good carbon filter mask while using it<br />- use a good quality, small particulate mask when sanding it<br />- clean up and properly dispose of the small particles after sanding
