I have a 1993 60 hp Mercury,The warning horn is sounding. The horn comes on when ignition key is turned on.It's a constant alert. Previously had impeller discharge tube plugged, had no horn sounding at that time.Need some insight on possible problem .When trolling the horn goes on and off .Bad sensor?

Re: Warning horn

If the horn is loud then the sencor is bad or there is a shorted wire, just disconnect the sencor if the horn stops it's the sencor. If the horn is very low it's probably the oil module

Re: Warning horn

I have an '89 90hp merc, and just went through this same stuff. I found my problem by disconnecting all three sensors, and then reconnecting them one by one until the siren sounded. The positives from the three sensors tie together via a phillips screw to a plastic block about 2 or 3 inches from where the wire harness comes into the motor. The orange wire that comes out of the harness is the siren wire. Touching that wire to ground causes the siren to sound. Once you find that, touch each of the sensor positives to that wire, and you will find your bad one. If the siren sounds with that wire disconnected, you have a short in that wire, or in the siren itself.

Re: Warning horn

When I disconnected the tan wire to oil module, the horn stopped. Can you tell me the procedure for replacing the oil module? Thanks for all your help
