Be sure to "eye ball" down the keel (center bottom "ridge" down middle) for being straight. There should be no cupping, wavyness or uneven areas side to side. Warping in this area (often called a "hook") is difficult to fix and although not mandatory to make the boat safe, it has a major impact on the boats handling, making it "porpoise" (bounce up and down like a low rider at car show) or pull in one direction or the other. That makes the boat virtually useless. Boats that have sat on trailers with poor or broken supports for years often show this sort of warping.<br /><br />Pretty much anything else is fixable on a boat without too much expense if labor is done by owner. Of course, the smaller the boat, the smaller the expense and vise versa. <br /><br />Do a search in this forum for "hook", "soft floor", "replace floor", "replace transom" and "transom rot" to get the full story on what else to look for in the way of hidden rot/damage.<br /><br />You have only scratched the surface....<br /><br />Enjoy!
