warped carb ?'s

I have a 1989 120 looper that has the warped carb and bowls. I had sanded down the bowls and installed them. I pumped the ball and realized fuel was still weeping out by the gaskets between the carb and bowl. I put a straight edge on the carb and they are warpep, the bowls are straight now. I have two that are worse than the other two.

I do not think that they can be purchased new and I do not want used ones where they will have the same issue.

Can this be fixed? I can not sand them down flat because of the brass tubes on one side and the plastic tube in the middle.
is it possible for the brass tubes to be removed and re-installed so I can sand them down?

I was also thinking of trying to make new carb gaskets out of a thicker rubber gasket material.
This might be the most viable option.

anyone have any tips to get these carbs to mate up without leaks between the bowls. The main issue was the motor was sucking in air from somewhere i believe this to be the culprit.

Make sure the carb floats are set at the correct heights. That will minimize or eliminate any leakage.

Contact iboats, they might give you a lead on a source for a new bowl. If not try around to other jobbers for a lead.

Its not fuel leaking out of the bowls. It is air coming in .

Mook, All Carb bowls are vented. Air leaking into them should not be an issue. Air leaking past the carb base gasket, would be a problem.

best be checking the reed block and intake gaskets, usually underneath (hard to see)
