Re: warrantee or not

Do you really expect a 1999 motor to be under any kind of warranty

Not warranty under any warranty plan. Corrosion is never covered as manufacturers look at it as abuse....And, a ten year warranty? That model engine had a 2 year warranty from Honda. Even an extension would have put it out to only 3 additional years.

Tarpon-have your mechanic read the Honda service bulletin about casting cracks in the 130 heads..there are many versions/revisions...mainly it says the cracks may allow water into one or more of the combustion chambers...you should pursue it !!

Re: warrantee or not

Well I was a Honda dealer until 2000 and then worked at another Honda dealership from 02 to 03...First time I have ever heard of a ten year warranty. I guess all the Honda's I sold in 99 had a secret ten year block warranty that was never divulged to the dealers....I'm actually more inclined to think that whatever warranty you are referring to was added on by Honda later on because of their issues or is a 3rd party warranty. Regardless, your problem isn't warranty issue, but it wouldn't hurt to run it by a Honda dealer and see if they will cover it. Honda has a huge goodwill budget and if you whine enough you might get lucky.
