Was the '92 Johnson 9.9 hp carburetor faulty?

I read that the plastic top of the carburetor wasn't held down securely enough and it was recalled. My plastic top has a bolt that goes in the side and hods the cam roller on.
Johnson J10RENA.

Anyone know something about this? Do I need a new carburetor or a kit? Thanks.

I don't recall any problem with the 9.9 carb cover. There was an issue with other carb cover gaskets, but not the 9.9.

I found this under Leroy's Ramblings:

Update Carburetor : The original carburetors used on the 1988 -1993 9.9 HP had a plastic cover which didn't have a sufficient number or retaining screws that let the cover flex on acceleration and could cause stalling or stumbling and poor idle. The new carburetor, part # 436779 is a factory update carburetor which replaced these defective plastic bodied carburetors. Dealer cost was $244.42 It is not known whether this was a factory recall on this, but probably just if you brought it in & complained. Now that OMC has sold it surely is not honored anymore.

Under Johnson parts it lists a new carb # 433989. Maybe they updated it again, I don't know.

This is what I'd like to get more feedback on.
