Well I just got back today from a 2 day trip to the SC coast . Arrived thursday afternoon and went stright to the pier. It was a liitle past noon and several dozen there but no one catching anything. Tried for 4 hours and the wind started to pick up to about a steady 30 mph so I quit. Figured the action could start later that night and maybe the wind slow down. Didnt happin . By 9pm a cold 30 plus wind had even the hard core fishermen off the pier. Next morning checked out another pier 20 miles north and good action reported from several hours before .Wind was still 15 to 20 mph. Went back to the other pier to give it another try . This time fewer on pier and wind started to grow and light rain. To make the story shorter later that night wind and heavy rain 40 to 60 mph steady and at one point the very loud freight train noise from the surf convinced me a large water spout was just off shore. This am wind had stoped, sun was out and the bad weather was GONE. I pondered all this as I loaded my van and left for home. Gezzz sorry for long post. ps The only fish I had my hands on were the perch filets(got at grocery store) I cooked on my camp stove in the motel room.......were rather tasty though
