Washing canopy cover

Ok this is a bit of a goofy question but I really don't know what to use to clean the canopy that came with my boat. It's a 16' Glastron bowrider with a 90hp outboard engine. it came with a sort of ugly canopy that fits over an aluminum 2-pole frame. I'm not sure it is even intended for this particular boat but I managed to get it to fit. Anyway it's gotten a little moldy or mildew-y. My initial feeling was to mix some bleach in water and scrub with that. But bleach is pretty harsh and I don't want to weaken this cover. I'm not sure what it's made out of, maybe canvas with a rubber coating?? The cover is white on the outside and grey on the inside. I don't know if the grey part would bleach out. The mold is only on the outside. <br />On the other hand, mold and mildew is stubborn and if I just use soap it may never come off. <br />Is there some kind of cleaning trick I could use here that won't ruin the cover?<br />Thanks for any advice.

I used Oxy-Clean on my pop-top cover. Mixed up with hot water and get cover wet and let it stay for a while, then brush with a soft brush. Mine sounds like a similar fabric to yours. I only washed the white outside part as that was the only side showing mildew. I laid it on the patio table and did a portion at a time.

Pressure washer with regular pressure washer soap.

Thanks for the tips. I don't have a pressure washer so I guess I can't try that but I was worried about what type of soap to use...I don't want it to get sudsy every time I take it out on the water

All I found in the house was some Fantastik. I figured that wouldn't get all sudsy later on when out on the water. Anyway it got a lot cleaner, but when I look at it up close, I can still see some dark spots where the mold was. I used a very stiff scrub brush with hot water and the Fantastic but the mold/mildew spots wouldn't come off. I sprayed it down with the hose and let it dry, then sprayed it with some Lysol. Will lysol kill the remaining mold and get rid of those little black spots?

Many good cleaners for vinyl.greased lightning,crazy clean,simply awesome.Dont forget a little elbow grease and dont scrub the threads.For mildew you can blot with bleach and rinse as soon as the spot vanishes and DONT put any on threads or you can soak with vinegar.Vinegar takes longer to kill mildew but it wont hurt anything.Charlie

Grease Lightning cures all!!!!!<br /><br />Test on a small piece first, it can be a little harsh.
