Waste is pumped directly out

I have a Carver 3607 with 2 heads and 2 waste tanks, but the previous owner never used them as the boat was used as a cottage and the marina's facilities were what they used.
There is a seacock in the starboard side in the engine room that has a lever and 2 wires attached to it. I have tried to close the lever and it will not move.

Someone told me that the 2 wires act as a lock(?) so I need to find the switch that will un lock the lever.

Does anybody understand what I mean and have the information I will need once the winter has passed and I can get into the boat.

Thanks

Are you sure the wiring isn't for bonding purposes? I do know my thru hull was "wired" shut on my cruisers, but by wired I mean the wires were merely tied through the lever so you couldn't just move it. There are laws about dumping waste into the water.

Yes. It is also common for thru-hulls to become stuck if not used for extended periods of time. I evercise mine every month or so.

Keep working on it.....should come loose.

No these wires go somewhere into the wiring of the whole boat....one is bright yellow and the other is a navy blue....????

I'm thinking you should have a Y valve and a macerator connected into that system somewhere. The Y valve will select either direct-into-the-water pumping with the macerator, or dockside waste pumping (sucking) via the thru hull receptacle. According to the law as I know it, depending on the area you're boating the Y valves are supposed to be "permanently" switched to dockside waste pumping only...

some pics would help! :)

I'd love to supply pics, but the boat is shrinkwrapped until around March 31
