Had boat sitting for a few months idle cause of illness started motor,no water is recirculating could this be a termostat problem? have a 120 hp force.I this a easy fix ? was working great.

Stats easy, but could be water pump...Which will require pulling the lower unit... More difficult but still manageable...<br /><br />resource our manual and both will be a walk through.. May need a little help with the lower unit however..

How do you know that its not pumping water? If water is not flowing from the telltail its more than likly blocked and the water is pumping ok.<br />Just a thought.

That's the problem I don't is there a easy way of checking where the water is being blocked or if I need water pump?

Have you checked the pee hole? What was the water flow like before you stopped useing it? I wouldnt think that letting the outboard sit for a few months would cause a problem like this if it was pumping ok

Had a good water flow before I was having the problem pulled out temostat seems to be ok,there's a 3/8 teflon plug on the top of the cylinder head I removed hoping to get water nothing came out?

I had that happen to my motor and I finally took the head cover off and found a much of broken impeller pieces stuck in the water channel.

It sure don't look good, I guess have to start from the bottom see if I have broken impeller thanks for the imfo. I will keep you posted on the outcome.

I'm fresh at working on boats, but have forty some years as a mechanic, have a manual but not much info on changing out impeller have any suggestions where to find good step by step info?

Get a mercury factory manual for your engine. Any merc dealer can order one for you, or search ebay as there is usually tons of them for sale. While the L/U is dropped you should get an impeller repair kit and change everything out. If you don't know when it was last done, it's well overdue.

installed new impeller still no water coming out of pee hole old impeller intact could not find any pieces when took it apart how fast does water start coming out of pee hole when motor is started?

check telltale for blockage, run little wire inside to make sure its open.

Still confused water still won't come out of pee hole is there something that I missed or I didn't check,impeller installation went easy.only thing that I feel coming out of pee hole is puff's of air.

remove poppetvalve or thermostat and apply waterhose for pressure and water. should come out pee hole and exaust.

Went with your advise a piece of plastic flew out of pee hole,started motor up baby started peeing right up. You guys are great thanks for all the help if guys were close I would treat you with home made tamales amd red chile,thanks again

Chazndee - do tell<br /><br />I'm having a similar trouble with my tell tale hole. Impeller is brand new but water just spurts out telltale hole, not a strong steady stream.<br /><br />1970, 115hp mercury
