Water coming in over transom carolina skiff j14

I put a honda 15hp 4 stroke short shaft on my carolina skiff j14. Boat calls for short shaft. I can only go about 1/3 of full throttle or water splashes out away from motor next to transom and some gets in boat. What is even worse is if i go faster the water pours over transom near center where motor is screw bolted onto transom. Water pours over top of transom. Appears to be worse the lower the motor is trimmed or tilted and somewhat better if pin in last or highest position with prop farthest from boat. It is still not good and not sure what to do. Thanks if anyone has any info.

I've heard of that problem; maybe you need to aks around on a carolina skiff forum if you don't get an answer here.
Maybe add a chine on the transom at the bottom? sounds like it's shooting up the transom. Or maybe a chine toward the top.

I ahd trouble with my 19" CS water shooting under the stern rail and against the motor (and in to the boat) on a turn so I made some wooden baffles and screwed them in under there.

Welcome to the iboats.com forum! The experts here which I am not can help you with any problem. From my experience, all shaft lengths are not created equal. How about posting a picture taken from aft of the motor looking forward as close to parallel with the bottom of the hull as you can get. Try to get the motor's anti-ventilation plate in the picture. Motor mounting height can cause lots of problems!

If posible move the eng up a bit on the transom sometimes you will get a splash from the av plate if its to low.

I haven't looked at a Honda lately. Most engines have a deflector plate about 1" above the anti-ventilation plate....the flat plate just above the prop.

The deflector plate sticks out in front of the lower unit/midsection and it's job is to deflect the spray that comes up the front of the engine. Sounds like it may be under water and unable to perform it's function so you get what you are getting.

How about a picture taken from the side of the boat, camera about even with the center of the mid section of the engine so that we can see the bottom of the boat at the transom and these two plates I'm talking about. Have the engine in it's normal running position.
