Water coming out of # 1 cylinder

Hello,

I sprayed Deep Creep into all clinders, let it set about an hour, started on muffs. Lots of smoke!! Loved it!!! But when I went to put the cowling back on, I noticed a small amount of water at the #1 cylinder (there is a small "bowl" under the plug). Water at the pee hole was cool the whole time with a nice stream coming out.

Where do I start to figure this out? ( I tried the search but I got about 1,000 results that had nothing to do with this problem)

TIA,
Eric

Re: Water coming out of # 1 cylinder

Do you mean water at the base of the plug and slight spraying when the motor is running? I just went through this and Clams set me straight. I was in a slight panic too.
You are talking about the inline 115 that is in your signature?
I had the problem on my #6 plug. It is the water jacket that covers the back of the head that could be leaking. As a temporary "for the rest of the season" fix I was told to let the motor dry (for a couple of days) really dry. Make sure there is no grease/oil in that "bowl" and install your plug. Put a coating of silicone around the base of the bowl right up to and touching the plug (yeah you are filling the bowl with silicone) now let it dry a couple of days.
Clams also told me that the 7/16" bolts are fragile and do break VERY easy. You can check the tightness but be very careful.

my 1984 115 used to leak around the plugs. After replacing the gasket several times in 3 years, Mercury sent me a new water jacket cover for free. That was in 87, never leaked after that.

Thank you!
Will it hurt to run it like that for awhile?

Considering you are in Nebraska your season is like mine in VT and getting shorter. If that is the problem the quick fix should last you the season and will need attention before next season.
