It's also not recommended to rev the engine that high unloaded on muffs. I think the book says no higher than 1500 rpm.

i got my money back for the boat. i did do the compression test though. dry was 1to 4, 140, 130, 130, 135. wet 1 to 4, 145, 140, 140, 150. there was water in the oil with some fuel. this was my first boat and i put 10w 30 in instead of 40w. which could have been some of the blow by. didn't run it with heavier oil.
