Re: water coming over back of boat

definately too low John.Don't feel alone . dealer in 1983 did the same thing to my new boat.In my case I had to actually re-drill holes and plug/patch the old ones.Nothing like swiss cheese for a new boat transom.Anyway, hopefully in your case you'll be able to relocate with existing motor mount holes.Bright side of it is you'll also probably see an increase in motor performance.Good luck.

A drop of oil in the right place is better than two along side........

An after thought -- if you use a jackplate to raise the motor you wont have to redrill any holes in the transom. And will have a lot of adjustment for fine tuning.

Good luck!

Good point Dhadley as long as John is willing to make the investment.

Another idea John is to swap out that motor for a 20" shaft model. No jackplate required.Or,If your mechanicly inclined you could find the parts to shorten your motor, such as a 20" mid-section,20" shaft,20" shift rod, water pump tube could be cut down or get a 20"...
Whats important is the cavitation plate is even or slightly above the boats bottom.Good luck.

guys thanks for the help. I will look at jack plates and also measure my hole pattern, it looks like if I move the motor up 1 hole pattern it will put the plate about even with the bottom of the boat...
