Hi, I have a 1989 Spectrum 1700 with 85Hp FORCE ob. I am have some strange problem..... I bout this boat about 6 months ago. Since then I have taken it out on water for about 6 times. Everytime when I came back I remove the plug and there isn't any water comming out. Last monday, i went boating again. This time when I remove the plug a good amount of water rush out, base on the time of the flow, it should be about 5-10 gallon......
Now this is werid as I can't think of how water get it there....
1) the boat is aluminum and I have check the body and there is no hole or crack.
2) the plug is firmly install.....

any one know where i should check?

Is it coming in over the transom? I had water come in that way a couple of times. But not that much.

Were you swimming or skiing that outing? Were wet people climbing into the boat?

Keep in mind it doesn't necessarily have to be coming in from outside the boat. Could be a leak in a livewell pump or could be the livewell itself leaking or over flowing. Could be some other hose leaking.

did you drain it on the previous outing, and then put the plug back in immediately? thus exposing it to the potential of rainfall until the next launch? I always leave my plug out the whole week, and only put it back in right before launching..

Also, make sure when you park it when not in use, the bow is up, and stern is down, so it can continue to drain any water that had ventured towards the bow...

As stated above, the leaks could be just water brought in from swimming, or a motor bolt, etc.

what color was the water ?
...lol :D

Was old "yelloower" in the boat. :D
but seriously (sp) transom plug or any drain points could be leaking.

you might consider a bilge pump with a float, won't stop the water from coming in but it will spit it out, also when it comes on you will know what you have been doing to maybe cause it, or not

Thanks for all the replies.
1) no rain, as i keep it in the gurage
2) no swimming or and wet activities
3) drain everytime and no water.
4) the color of the water is just normal lake water.

will check the motor bolt , it look dry to me and even if it leak , i don't think it will be that much. I think it might be the live well. buy how do i check for leak in the host since they are all under the boat......
