gentlemen I have e120tlcc 88 looper temp guage shows engine starts to heat up in no wake zone, just exactly how hot? I don't know, guage only shows green, white, red. I put in nuetral and temp goes down, wot it runs cool. Dealor put new w/pump ten hrs running time. I have not run engine out of the water, or sucked up sand. Could this be a malfunction of water control valve? Any ideas? If it is the control valve can I disasemble and clean it or is it destroyed when taken apart, dealor say's no kit avalible must replace the whole valve, $60 a little steep would like to clean if possible. thanks

Re: water control valve

Check the engine with a temp-stik, or better yet, an infrared temp gun if you can get your hands on one. Your engine will run hotter at idle speeds. If your control valve is acting up, this would show up more at WOT. If the engine is truly over-heating, you may want to take a look at the exhaust, or cylinder head gaskets.
