'94 70hp Evinrude - Local mechanic just replaced impellor. I hooked up rabbit ears/hose and ran motor abt 10 secs. I shut it off cause could not tell if water circulating properly. Saw water coming out small tube on upper right rear of motor. Also, Water Pressure gauge not showing any reading.

Anyone give me primer on water cooling system/flushing/Pressure Gauge?

Anyone have repair manual for my motor?

Re: Water Cooling Question

Small tube is probably the feed for the water pressure gauge. If water is coming out of it, that's part of the problem. If its a slightly larger tube, that's the tell tale tube that should exit through the lower cowl. If water is coming out of that tube, but inside the cowl, that's another problem. Service manuals are available here on iBoats, e-bay, Ken Cook Publishing, and your local library.

Re: Water Cooling Question

10 seconds is not very long. Would be surprised that water has had time to circulate and develop any kind of pressure.

You can visually check the plumbing for cracked hoses etc. You'd think the mechanic would have gone through that as part of insuring that he got the impeller installed and the engine reassembled correctly.
