Water discharge...

For Tashasdaddy....we have the same motor, 56 30 hp rude.....I ran mine in the tank, should the cooling water exhaust thru the prop and the "holes" half way up the housing? I dont have any discharge from the "holes". The upper water inlet was in the water. I also only idled it.

you should have a mist coming out the exhaust relief ports on the back of the motor, if you can't hold your hand on top of the head for 3 -4 seconds it is not cooling. the motor needs to be submerge to the yellow line in the barrel, the pink line is where the impeller is. the blue is the water pickup, and major exhaust. water needs to be that high, because the impeller is not self priming.

Thanks..I dont have the mist.....I will probably change the impeller just to be sure...thanks for the pic.

Bump..........

Thanks again..... Tashasdaddy, got the "mist" more of a flood from the exhaust...just didnt have motor deep enough in the tank...pumps great

That pic is not of a '56 30hp! It's a '58 35hp! :)
