Re: Water flow problems even after replacing impeller - 95 Evinrude 9.9
So I pulled the panel off where the tell-tale comes out, and there were numerous rubber debris hung up in the little passageways, and the gaskets were in really bad shape. I also pulled a large piece of rubber out of the bottom hole inside that panel, it was almost completely obstructed there. I am still having overheating and water flow issues though, so I guess my only option at this point is to pull the head. I have a new gasket on the way for that. I'm beginning to wonder if I wouldn't be better off just buying a new motor, I'm starting to get pretty frustrated with it all. I have a new head gasket on the way, as well as a whole thermostat assembly to replace the one that was missing. I can only think however that the previous owner would remove the thermostat completely if they were having overheating issues. If pulling the head doesn't fix it, then there must be debris between the powerhead and the copper pickup tube, and that will SUCK to have to take that apart. I'm having my doubts about this motor, I've already put a new starter, new wiring harness, and now all of these parts on it. Beginning to think I'd have been better off keeping that cash and putting it towards a new motor!
