Hello all,
last trip I ran over some weed and the water gauge showed reduced flow afterwards and then the engine warning light came on after about 20 minutes. When I flushed it at the ramp the gauge was normal and no alarm although I understand this is not an accurate way to check a flow problem. I have removed the impellor for inspection all ok. Q1: Is it ok the flush from the top with the lower unit removed? Q2: I'm thinking the blockage is right where the gauge is for reasons I won't bore you with, can someone direct me to where that is located and would it be ok to squirt the hose down there. I only have a Seloc manual which is not helping and before you say get a oem manual I am awaiting one which is on order at the moment. I have a 97 Johnson 150 ficht Oceanrunner.
thanks
David

Dave, I have a '98 Johnny 150 carb model. The owners manual allows flushing from the top with the LU on, so I cannot imagine removing it would do any harm while flushing it. I would pull the thermostats and flush the daylights out of it from the top and bottom.

Sorry about the slow response but thanks Chris. I've been working on it during the week- it's dark winter down here you know- I'll give it a belt tomorrow and reassemble it and let you know how I go.
