Water Hose Hookup on OMC Stringer...

Using the hose connection (to run out of the water) on a Stringer, does the impeller in the Upper Unit get water? I ask because the hose hookup is ABOVE the impeller in the outdrive (on the port side / on the cap covering the tilt bearing). I need to test my outdrive and surely don't want an "extra" repair after such a tedious couple of weeks!!! But, if I can avoid a trip to the lake to make sure the prop spins, I'd like to. If my prop spins, she'll go into the drink for a "sea-trial".

That is why it's there. When I use mine the water runs out the bottom pickup before I start motor.
