I have a 1981 75hp Evinrude and I am getting water in the #2 Cylinder. I have pulled the exhaust plates off had them resurfaced so they are good and flat, replaced and sealed the gaskets, torqued to spec's, replaced head gasket but still getting water in #2 cylinder. Need advice can anyone help?

That's unusual. The exhaust covers are the usual cause of that problem. The offending part is the thin plate that warps from heat. The leak is alongside the exhaust port where there is a couple of inches between bolts, and as I remember it is poorly supported from the other side.

I assume you checked real close for pin-holes through the plate?

Yes the head was resurfaced when I had it off, and I did check for pin holes in the exhaust plate but I didn't see any.

Had a recent frustrating experience with build-up in the bolt holes on a 1982 engine. I torqued the bolts but they were held out enough to prevent a seal. I wasted two head gaskets before I figured out what was happening.

I got a good deal on an old 7.5 from a dealer, because of a pin hole. They resurfaced the head and everything. I made a new plate and was back in business in no time.
