ok,
I have a 1988 force 507x8c.
have had a few problems with it bought it used but finally got it starting great.
was working on the motor and had it in a tub of water started it up and noticed under the powerhead there was a little spray of water, when I say little I mean very little. its hard to see exactly where its comming from because where the spray is there is a lip that makes it to hard to tell, any ideas?
my thought was the gasket/seal that the power head sits on needs to be replaced...

That would be my guess too, but it would be nice to pinpoint exactly where it's coming from. Have you tried a small inspection mirror?

if thats it whats the gasket/seal name that I need, also would I need anyother seals to switch that one out?

I have to for the most part get all my stuff online and like to make sure I get everything I need in one shot. Makes shipping cheaper

Go to the Crowley Marine website and look at their schematics. If you are going to pull the PH, it is also a good time to change the rubber boot in the leg.

For the fuss and bother, I would leave it alone until it starts to cause problems. A small amount of water will drain from the cowling and if there is not enough to cause the carb to suck it or ignition problems, why make your life difficult.

Of course, Mr. Monk being my mentor and hero, It would offend me aesthetically, bother me all season, and I would schedule the thing for replacement during the off season. I may be anal but I am also practical.

what kind of ignition problems might occur with water in the cowling?
I noticed bubbling going on in my leg as well

well if your electrical stuff gets wet you might not beable to restart. untill it drys out a bit, mine is on the back side of the motor so theres no real chance its going to effect the carb.
ya frank I planed on doing mine in the off season, its not really that big of a deal yet.
