I have a 1974 6hp Evinrude that has water in one cylinder. What is the most likely problem? Cracked Head? Head Gasket? How easy is it to replace the head gasket if this is the problem?
I hope it is only a blown head gasket. Although my engine is bigger than your(115 '82) I had water in one of the 4 cylinders and it turned out to be a piece of rod bearing that broke off and poked a hole into the water jacket. I had to replace the powerhead. Mechanic said it was the darndest thing he'd ever seen.

StillFishin'
Jim, you may also want to look at the exhaust cover caskets. These blow real easy after a while and will shoot water straight into the cylinders. Tough call here as to which way to go.
