Does anyone have an Idea as to what it cost to repair 140HP engine with water in it? I'm afraid I'm about to buy this boat. It's in great shape otherwise, it's a dixie bowrider 1982 18' with trailer for $700.

An approximation of cost would help a whole lot.THANKS

You need to tell us who manufactured the motor and drive to better answer your question.

140hp "what"?

You're probably talking about a crack block which doesn't mean "repair".

It means replace! Try 3 to 4 times your purchase price for a ball park figure to have someone else install a rebuilt/reman longblock in most Merc/Volvo/OMC I/O's.....

If you scrounge .....you might be able to do it for less.....maybe 1/2 of the above figure.

Even if the boat were free, it might not be all that great a deal....
