Drain the tank and clean and dry it out.
Also clean/flush out all lines, filters, and pumps

If you have any ethanol fuel it will absorb the water and separate out ruining the octane rating of the fuel

Re: Water in fuel tank

In addition to starting with a clean water free tank, I am also a big believer in the racor or similar style 10-micron fuel/water seperator spin-on filters. Especially the ones with a clear bowl on the bottom of the filter, so you can not only see if there is any water in your fuel since it settles to the bottom, but also if there are any particles coming out of your tank or throught your fuel lines. And the nice thing about the racor is they have a little valve so if you do see any water or debris in the bowl you can drain it out without having to remove the entire filter. Worth every penny in my opinion. I also put sta-bil marine formula stabilizer ethanol treatment in my gas, but I will probably switch over to valvtect when my sta-bil runs out.

Stripper, Siphon the bottom of the tank into a couple of jerry cans. Let them settle and then siphon them into a clear gallon container. You should be able to see the water and can pour off the good gasoline. Use some 2 cycle oil to tint the gasoline if you have trouble seeing the water. it is not recommended to treat any significant amount of water with additives.

All the water will be on the bottom of the tank. If you siphon 10 gal or so, off the bottom of the tank, you should get all the water.

Tilt the boat so all the water runs to the rear bottom of the tank. It will be easier to get it out.

Stripper,I would invest in an inexpensive in line fuel pump from any auto parts store if I had that much fuel to remove.
