I have seen a few threads like this but I have a different question. Ive got an 88 tracker 1800fs and my buddy left my fuel tank cap off which im sure got water in it. Im just not sure how much water is in it but I do know it seemed to run fine but smoked a bit more like a white smoke. Do I risk harming my motor if I run the fuel out of it through my motor? Or could I add seafoam, or some other additive? Just looking for a little guidance. Thanks!

If it were me and I was sure water got into my fuel tank, I would access the tank and suck via a hand/drill pump from the bottom until the water didn't appear. Then I would install a water seperating fuel filter and go boating.

I advise to not use a hand drill pump, any spark from the drill and fumes you have a bad situation happening! Use a syphoning device,or even a electric fuel pump, designed for handeling fuel. Crank the boat " on trailer" if possible so the fuel pickups are at the lowest point, pull fuel out till clear, add your favorite dewatering solution. In my experience, the only good way is to remove all the fuel, pull the sender, have a look in there and get it cleaned out really well.I still use the old fuel in my car, just let it settl out and syphon off the top, taking samples as ya go,making shure there is no water. Whats left is brought to the local marina, they have a recycling truck that picks up waste ful,and oil.
