Re: Water In Lower Unit Help

If you're not sure where the leak is .. your best option would to be to bye the full lower unit seal kit ...
  • Mercury # 26-55682A1
    OR
  • Sierra # 18-2653

If you're sure it's the propshaft seals ...
  • Mercury # 26-70081 outer seal ( Sierra #18-2053 )
  • Mercury # 26-76868 inner seal ( Sierra # 18-2002 )
  • + Mercury # 25-29976 O-ring ( since you will have to remove the bearing carrier anyway )

How long has it been since you were into the lower unit to inspect/change the oil? How much water? Do you use Merc lower unit oil and if so, what color is your present oil?

Re: Water In Lower Unit Help

Thanks guys, tore it apart today. Was leaking under the water pump base. Bought the whole water pump kit with all the seals and the 2 other seals in the water pump base. Ran it for a few minutes before dark and seems to have fixed it!!!

Thanks again and thanks to the guys at the Sport Center in Perry GA. They had all the parts in stock and made sure i had everything i needed!!!!!
