I have noticed water in the lower unit oil the last 2 times I put the boat in the water. I changed the oil after each use to make sure the water doesn't damage anything. I wanted to know how to tell if its the lower unit seal?

Re: Water in lower unit oil.

Not always but many times if the propshaft seal or carrier seals are leaking in water they will also be leaking out gear oil.Inspect them closely for signs of oily residue. Otherwise a common culprit for water intrusion is the oil drain/fill and vent screw seals.
