If there is a slight water intrusion problem in the lower unit of a Force 90, what is the most likely spot for the water seepage? The impeller was recently changed, but the mechanic did not replace any of the seals and o-rings. Should I buy a kit and replace all the seals and o-rings in the lower unit?

Re: Water in Lower Unit

usually it is the seal around the prop shaft on the bearing cage. Might want to check the gaskets on the drain and fill screws. They are cheap. I built a tester using a screw, basketball air needle and some silicon adhesive. Plug this into the vent hole and summerge lower unit in water. Pump with air and look for the bubbles. You could buy a seal kit but if leak is minimal just keep an eye on it after you use it and keep replacing the oil. Fix it after the season is closed like in fall.
