I have a 2012 Mercury 115 4-stroke. It is kinda new to me. I ran it a few times over the summer and went to change to oil (ran on muffs to warm up before draining oil) a few weeks back and there was a little water in the oil. I replaced the oil and let it set for a few days. Ran on muffs for a few mins, then drained a little (maybe a cup or two) oil out. There was water in oil again, but just a little and oil cleared up quickly. So I topped off oil and ran on muffs for about 5 -10 min. Let it set for 3 days. Went to drain a little oil out and there is a bunch of water in the oil. See photo.

What are my next steps for figuring out what is going on? Compression test? Leak down?IMG_1479.jpeg

Lower unit or engine block?

Picture looks to be a lower unit

That’s the engine oil. And I did check the t-stat. It opened in hot water as it should. Besides, that’s a lot of water in the oil and from only 10 min on the muffs

Look for the rating on the oil bottle. The Mercury oil you are using is very likely FC-W.
