water in oil?

new poster here. i've recently purchased a baja 260 with a 502 carb engine. i just had the water pump and belt replaced. i ran the boat last weekend and it ran like a dream. the things fired right up and ran with no problems. the next day i was going over the thing and checking it over and found the oil was a little foggy. not white milky oil but it was a little hazy like it may have a bit of water in it. i checked the pcv's and they were covered in the milky crap i've read about. it has a collector for the pcv that collects the blowbye and it had spewed out some of the white milky oil residue. i'm about a quart low on oil on the thing. some of which i found in the valley in the intake. how common is this? is this fixable? i don't think i'll rest easy with this thing knowing it spews oil around. i plan on changing the engine oil and filter out, cleaning the pcv assy's and tubes and then emptying out the collection canister. any feed back on any of these issues would be greatly appreciated. i don't want to run this thing and screw it up over something stupid. thanks again

milky substances around the PCV's are common in car engines, its moisture contacting the oil from what i remember and is very common. i ASSUME the same applies for your marine engine. i'd just replace/change the oil, oil filter, and PCV's as added insurance and live happy and keep a close eye on the situation. hopefully the more experienced folks can chime in and lettuce know for sure.

Don't cross your fingers, it won't help.
See your other post on the same problem.

i'm trying to determine if it is the same problem or not. i don't have a crankcase full of water, just the white milky residue around the pcv. the thing still seems to run fine, but the residue has thrown up a red flag that i might have problems. any thoughts?

change the oil, substituting 2 qts of diesel in; run it to temperature. Change oil and filter again. run it, and check again; if the oil looks better, and hasn't risen- do it again (change oil and filter). It might be condensation then. Or search pressure test threads in here. If the oil level doesn't rise, then it is a gasket or exhaust/riser slowly letting water in.

thanks for the feedback. i must ask what adding the two quarts of diesel to the oil does? the engine is a gm 502.

Condensation is common in valve cover area . Its cause by the cycling of heat and cold .
When your running the engine its hot and when it cools and sits condensation builds up . Nothing to worry about.
If you pull dipstick and its getting milky look for the level to rise on stick. If it has an internal leak the level will rise and it will end up looking like a milkshake
