The old .....Fresh oil....Sell the boat ploy.

Sure seems like it. The seller did offer a refund, perhaps a partial one is still available for the asking to offset some of the repair costs....

one more question are there certain things i need to do with motor after a day at the lake and is the propeller suppose to have 1/4 in free play
Yes propeller shaft until locked into gear will have in and out play.

this is why you always do a water test.…

tryto get it running soon put oil in affected cylinders , until you get it running. Once running get some inexpensive oil and keep changing it until it runs clean. You only need 3 qts in the pan keep changing it until it’s clean

I want to start off by thanking all of you. Ok here's where i am, i went ahead and pull the heads off sent them to machine shop got them back put it all back together started it up let it warm up then did another compression check and i have close to 170 on each cylinder it motor sounds good and no water in oil.Now i have this one wire that i cant find a home for does anyone know where it might go

looks like a spare ground . I had one on my engine that is there in case they put a mercathode system on the boat .
