OK, I have bought a boat about a month and a half ago. When I first got it ran good. About a week or so later I noticed it (what I think) loading up when I turm it off, it would shake for about a minute. Then, the next time I took it out it ran great again, until I cut it off towards the end of day and it would not start. So, I got towed in and brought it home. I have rear several posts about this. I thought that it was exhaust manifolds, from what I read. I took them off and tested them, no leaks. So now I have new gaskets coming and am going to put the manifolds back on. What do I do next take it out and run it and chance getting stuck again or try something else. I was thinking maybe intake gasket?????? Any suggestions would be great.

On dry dock run it and use a light water spray on the suspected area. Do this until you find the problem. Then repair it. If this is an intake gum out would flare the engine when it hits the leak.
Are yuo sure it is water?

tap it onto a hot surface like a driveway in the sun. Gas will be gone in seconds. alcohol soon after that and water in a few minutes. ( put some water beside it as a check. you can try that with some alcohol also.

Or a match would do the same thing.

all i have done so far is pull plugs dry them off and put them back in. It fired right up. then I pulled manifolds. Dont now how to do compression test. I have a 90 OMC 4.3L. Also I am not that mechanically inclined. I do body work for a living not mechanical. But will try to fix anything first if it saves me money.

Check your exhaust shutter it keeps water from backing up into cylinders on deceleration.

Sounds like the plugs are flooding. I would imagine it to be gas. I am going to spend the evening running this through my mind. It has be a simple repair.
