In the back of my mind though there is a small voice that says what about further damage inside the hull further down the boat aft of the cuddy

That should be a big fat man screaming that at you, not a little voice.

Fixing the exterior damage isn't even half the job that probably needs to be done... and $950 is pretty steep for that amount of work.

Update
Well my boat is back on the water and the fiberglass job is done. The damage was contained to the forward cavity thank goodness and the fiberglass fellow told me I was quite lucky that it didnt reach further aft of the cuddy. He told me the boat was well built structurally and was in good condition. He fixed it from within and the outside and gelcoated the keel The total cost for that area of damage was about 600.00. He did some other repairs that were on the front of the bow ( good size "bullet holes" ) and a couple of minor chips on the keel for another 400.00 all of these repairs were color matched
