Hi. Sorry if this is a dumb question. After stopping the boat and tilting the engine up, is water supposed to drain from the water intake?

It should drain at least somewhat, from the water intake, when tilted. Outboards are self draining, and they will drain thru the lowest escape avenue. If you stop the motor and tilt it up right away, a lot of water will drain thru the water intake. If you stop the motor and let her sit a few minutes, water will drain (underwater, out of your sight) from the prop, gratings above the antiventilation plate and the water intakes.

Hi, Follow up question about the Mercury 150. I ran over some sand and clogged the intake or outflow and turned off the engine, after a few attempts at clearing I gave up and got a tow. At home at home I flushed the engine through the hose connection and water issued from the "pee hole" whereas it did not prior to this. However, I put ear muffs on the intakes and started the engine but no water was flowing out. What do I need to do to get water flowing again. Thanks.
