Re: Water issue

Look your engine up on marine engine . com or **********, the diagrams in there have everything in the right order for installation.

Yes, it was worn out , I bought the boat used. so I don't know how long when the last impeller changed. I bought new T-stats and kit. Now I am back in here looking for diagram to put it back in, to be sure, cause I don't like re-do LOL

Here is an OEM manual for your motor. If you go to section 8 of the manual you will find what you are looking for.

Boatinfo - 1973-1991 Evinrude Service manual

Re: Water issue

Can you please tell me the large end or the small end on the thermostat is the trigger point when it reach the temperature? because on the pict, it shown the small end point toward the rear of the engine, or toward the outlet holes. Thank you in advance

Re: Water issue

small end heats up and pushes the plunger open on the big end.
On that engine the water would be coming down from the heads so thats where the water should hit the small end first(in my opinion).
I havent got one here to look at, but to doublecheck you need to make sure that if it does sit that way it wont get pushed out with the water stream.
I drill that middle hole in the valve body a bit wider to make it a bit more failsafe in case anything that is sucked up or a bit of rubber from a water defector blocks it

Thank you Mr. Bosunsmate I'll just do what you've explained here. and thank you all for helping, my work on the boat takes a long time to progress, so every now and then I have a little time, I get on it, that's where, when I took out anything on the engine, and my hands are dirty, I didn't take a pict. of how it came out, that's when I forgotten how to put it back. Thanks to you all, wish you all a very very happy new year. and catch a lots of fishes .
