Question. Could bad motor mounts cause a leak at the transom seal because the motor has actually started putting pressure on the out drive? I would think this would suggest that the motor is lower than normal and applying pressure. Thanks for any suggestions.

No, a bad mount won't, but if the transom is rotten you will sure get a leak. Have you checked engine alignment to see if it's off or not (That's something that should be done yearly)

image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgYeah I knew when I bought this one, fixing as we speak but I bought it dirt cheap, and all the labor is on me.image.jpgimage.jpgI'm still a bit worried about what I did with it last summer, bought it,replaced bad bellows, ran it hard just to see if it was any good, several runs on a 350 acre lake no problems, and, one trip on Lake Superior for 30 miles total.....stupid is what stupid is I guess. I should know better but that's what always happens, those that know better go down. I was lucky, after the run on the big lake the transom started leaking pretty good-- or bad, bilge ran every 15 minutes. Won't do that again! Heck I work on these things for a living,I tell people not to do it but I did. As you can see in the photos, someone laid chipboard above the factory floor,I knew that also but when I checked it out through pics I bought it sight unseen pretty much. $200.00 ,roughly $1,000" parts/ materials good to go. I know the old 140 is good as it checked out mechanically, I'm going to make this thing look new again as I think this will fit in my use for the near future, unless I get th 2-footidius again......sorry if I stole the thread,a couple "sodas" do that....

Possible, the exhaust down tube seal has gone bad leaking water.
Can you see any leaks on the inside of the boat?
A mirror and a flashlight can help.
