Water leake

i have a 84 jonnson 40 hp and i need some help i changer the impeller and now im getting water squirting from the seam between the lower unit and midsection and the pee stream isn't as strong as before did i do something wrong?

Chances are that the copper feed tube isn't inside the grommet right. That would allow water to be blown out inside the exhaust housing and the pee stream would be weak. It's a common problem but, the only way to fix it is to take the lower unit off and re-install it with the copper tube engaged inside the grommet.

ok i took the lower unit down again and i see the copper tube your talking about and it doesn't seem like a snug fit between the tube and the grummet i have about a 1/4 inch of play in there and it has to be installed right it fits in the hole on the impeller houseing and the bracket for the water bolts on top of it.
