Water leaking around the anode on Cobra sterndrive

I have a 1986 OMC 3.0L with a Cobra sterndrive (series 400). When I run it on the water hose, water is coming out around the anode on the front side of the sterndrive between the upper and lower units. Any idea what would cause this to happen? It is my understanding that the exhaust and water exits through the prop - is that not true? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If it's coming out around the anode, I think something ironically corroded through there. If it's coming out the 6 idle relief holes next to the anode, I think that's normal.
