I had a fuel problem with carburetor which i fixed today engines running really good now however i believe water could possibly be coming out of top spark plug hole not sure at normal idle i didn't see any water coming out but when i had it had a slightly higher idle someone that was with me said they saw water coming out of the bolt hole next to the plug not sure what that hole is for. I put a screw in it but it was still doing it so he said it might be coming out of the spark plug of cylinder 1.

What could cause this or where else in that vicinity could it be coming from?

It is a 90hp mercury 1985 Tower of power inline 6

Step #1 is to replace the water cover gasket.----When was the last time an impeller was installed on this motor.

I just did the water pump kit yesterday but have had problem after problem which i have solved all of them.

what gasket is the water cover gasket? Maybe I did something wrong if so i can take it back apart.

I installed the cork gasket then metal gasket then cork gasket then small rubber oring i believe then impeller then metal housing then large oring then thick rubber oring type thing then cover then bolted back together.

When i put this waterpump together it looks as if I put the cork gaskets in the wrong order I put Number 22 where number 20 should be and vise versa, also I put the rubber washer number 34 under cap number 23 inbetween the metal housing number 24 and the plastic housing. I am going to drop the lower end today and redo these items what else should i be looking for before i put it back together.

Also on my water pump kit and the one that was previously installed i believe their is only one tube that comes off the top of the waterpump cap but in the illustration it shows 2.

Could this installation cause water to come out of a cylinder? if thats where it is coming from?

The water jacket cover I am referring to is no where near the pump !!!!!!---------There are no head bolts and there is no cylinderhead on this motor.---------The water jacket cover is on the back of the block.-Sparkplugs holes go through that cover.

Are you referring to number 22 on this diagram?

Got a gasket today from a local marine shop and it was the wrong one. Ended up using permatex black ultra rtv. Has anyone tried this before?

I ordered the right gasket this morning 20 bux for a 2 pack. However fired up motor tonight and ran it for about an hour straight no leaks.

Now back to cleaning carbs, so they stop spilling gas everywhere.
