We just replaced the impeller and upper housing on our Alpha One stern drive. When we winterize the unit it was pumping water ok, but knew that the impeller was at least 2 years old. Fired the engine up on muffs and could not get water to circulate. Shut it off right away.
My first thought is to tear the unit down and inspect the lower unit, impeller and housing. Any suggestions on other causes. Ironic that the old pump, which showed signs of aging worked, and now with the new unit it is not. Also usually some water seems to make it into the system when the impeller isn't turning with the hose supplying the pressure, did not seem to be the case.
