Water not getting through exhaust manifold

I have a 1993 5.8l and I noticed that the port side exhaust manifold and riser was getting (what I felt) too hot. I took the hose off of the thermostat housing and stuck the garden hose on it, sure enough, No water is getting through that side. I am guessing that corrosion and rust are blocking the water passage and I was wondering if there is a way I can clean this out effectively or if I need to buy a new exhaust manifold.

I'd get a new one. Your boat is a 93 (12 years old and from what I read the useful life for a minifold is only a couple of years anyway. In fact, I'd replace both sides and the risers.

I thought so, but I was just trying to see if I ould be cheap. I replaced the otherside this spring when I noticed a small crack starting to develop - thanks for the info -

Also, on a side note, I have only had the boat for a bout a year, and I hooked it up to the fake lake recently and couldn't get good water flow through the engine, like zero - should I be able to without the impeller submerged - or is this just the "way it is" I thought if this was not normal I would go ahead and replace the impeller while I was at it.
