I'm having over heating issues and I believe I've narrowed it down to the seal where the power head meets the water pipe in the shaft, is there a way to access the top of the water pipe without having to remove the shaft?
Is there a way to replace the water tube seal without pulling the power head off a 1986 150hp Mercury. A marine mechanic suggested using a long wooden pole to push the seal in place from the bottom. Is this something that might work
hl your are in the wrong forum.
Go to Mercury/Mariner forum, the 150Hp Mercury 6 inline is a different animal than Force/Chrysler engines.
BTW you have to pull the power head to change the water tube seal.
