I have ordered a complete kit with gauge. It is a Sierra International product. I have also researched how to install it and the instructions on it say to tap into the cylinder head. The engine block has a dedicated port specifically designed for reading cooling system pressure.
It says to locate, look on the starboard side of the engine block/cylinder head. Just near the middle spark plug, you will see a 7/16” brass hex-head pipe plug. Remove the plug and thread in a hose barb or compression adapter from your gauge kit. Well, I have looked several times and I am not seeing a brass hex-head plug or anything other than the head bolts. Can someone explain where they might have found this hex-head plug? I appreciate any honest feedback! Thanks

Gee, what motor are we talking about. My 60* V6 had such a port on the port head. It was easy to find. Not all motors will have one, I would guess.

I suspect the Instructions are referring to a Mercury, as they almost always had a Place, with a Brass Plug where a Pressure Gauge Hose/Tube could be fitted
