Water pressure gauge

I have a 1994 Johnson 115 HP.

I have read on this forum about installing a water pressure gauge. Sure sounds like a good idea. I am having the water pump impeller replaced this week (kit) just for the hell of it as it hasn't been done in 2 years. Sure would like to get an indication as to when it's needed as opposed to just doing it blind.

In any event, can someone point me to instructions as to how to install such a gauge.

Thanks,

Mirko

Re: Water pressure gauge

The guage you purchase should come with full installation instructions. Be sure that you get a guage that will register up to 30 lbs pressure. It will not have a sensor-just a water hose that will connect to the telltale water outlet on the rear of the engine. Pretty easy job.

I wouldn't wait until you notice the pressure drop on the gauge before you replace your next pump, could be too late by that point. Every 2 or 3 seasons is a better way to go.
